A day to remember

It would be a day we would remember. It was the middle of March, sunny but slightly cool. We had been waiting for this day since the 28th of February.

We had been told to wear bright and cheery clothes. After all, this was a day of celebration, the day we were going to honor our friend. We had looked forward to this time with both trepidation and excitement.

The church was filled with family and friends whose lives had been touched by this special lady. We had come to say our final good-byes.

She was a daughter, wife, a mother, sister, and a grandmother. She had worn many hats in her lifetime, and had been a friend to all. A special memory had been created in all of our hearts because of her. She had touched us all.

I hadn’t seen her in many years, and yet, still felt a fond remembrance of her. When I first met her, she was being pursued by a charming, teddy-bear of a guy. I remember the flirting and sweetness in their relationship. Her beautiful dark eyes as she gazed at him, and her giggles as they would steal a kiss, would bring a tug to my heart. Later, I would witness the love they shared as they married and then began their family.

Was it her time to go? It must have been. Were we ready to have her go? No. It’s always difficult to say good by to those that are loved.

  1. What a nice tribute to a friend. I'm sure she would have been touched by your kind words.

I love comments!

I know that many of you that follow INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK, email your comments or tell me in person your thoughts. I like that too. But it's fun to check back on my blog for your reaction to what I've written. Sometimes, I even look for the comments a couple of times a day AFTER a post has been published (However, we don't have to go into what obsessive behavior is all about).

Read the blog with no comments? That’s good too. I appreciate you reading “INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK” and the support you have shown me in this project.

Please come back!
